Paradise Differed

Digital publishing + Illustration
Project Overview
Some of my favorite memories of the late Element Coffee shop in Camarillo are with the late Erland Anderson, resident poet and art connoisseur. Before Erland passed on from this world, I wanted to give life to one of his unpublished short stories called Paradise Differed. The title was a reference to 'Paradise Lost', a classic from 17th century English poet, John Milton.
My Contributions
I saw an opportunity to give an very slight update to Erland's story, which featured a reading between the lines of the story in the Gospel of Luke, in which Jesus is tempted in the desert by Satan. Erland's story had the duo riding a magic carpet. I asked Erland if he would be willing to substitute the carpet for VW inspired flying machine. Erland laughed and I got started illustrating. For this project, I also took on the role of publisher, and had the story published in ePub format to Apple ibooks and Barnes and Noble Nook platforms available for $2.99.

I have made the story available Free of Charge. Have at it!

Far far away, behind the word mountains, far from the countries Vokalia and Consonantia, there live the blind texts. Separated they live in Bookmarksgrove right at the coast of the Semantics, a large language ocean. A small river named Duden flows by their place and supplies it with the necessary regelialia. It is a paradisematic country, in which roasted parts of sentences fly into your mouth.
